Hi

!

It’s a new year, and we’re setting the bar higher than ever before! We’re focusing this term on being the best version of you you can be… in front of the camera, on set, and in the audition room! That all starts with a term filled with eight of the best weeks yet. It’s time to enter January with passion and power… and work on eight techniques we deem ESSENTIAL in helping you begin your best start to 2026. Get ready, LeBlancers, because this term, it’s Nothin’ but the Best!

Introduction
Welcome to LeBlanc School of Acting’s Winter Term: NOTHIN' BUT THE BEST

Ignite your passion and get ready to step into January with determination and power, LeBlancers! We’re launching our term with a focus on exploring, strengthening, and mastering eight techniques that will undoubtedly better you as actors. With thoughtful care and precision, we’ve designed a term with classes that highlight techniques that unlock the best in every performer. But what does it mean to be your best self?

An actor is at their best when they are prepared, confident, and eager to stretch themselves to new heights and skills. The better their foundation—which comes through classes and technique—the better they perform. And the better an actor feels about who they are and what they can bring to the story the better they succeed in the industry. So let’s get ready for a term that has us striving for excellence!

We’ll be exploring a new technique every week in class, and each of these will help you get to your best start to 2026. Get ready for the innovation that you’re used to with us at L.S.A.! The countdown to greatness starts now… let’s dive into Week 1!

WEEK 3: THE BEST SUPPORT

WEEK 4: THE BEST CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

HOLIDAY CLOSURE

WEEK 8: THE BEST YOU

Filming Etiquette

We are our students' biggest fans; we love seeing them perform and use their skills. At L.S.A., we tell our students that taking videos and pictures of yourself in performance or while practicing is a great tool to go back and reflect on your abilities. However, we hold a strong stance on maintaining a respectful environment, and to that end, no recording of full classes is permitted at LeBlanc.

Parents may only record their child during class when it is their turn to perform, and they hear the word "Action!" and stop when they hear the word "Cut!". Feedback and instruction are not to be filmed and shared.

Our school is built on our unique approach to teaching, and many of the techniques we share in class are exclusive to LeBlanc. We believe that all our students learn in a safe, comfortable, and engaging way. By doing so, our students have an atmosphere for optimal learning and skill retention!

Proper Etiquette

Although we all know you are online learning professionals at this point, we just want to make sure everyone is in the loop with our key virtual acting class etiquette:

  • Please ensure you have a quiet space to attend class, with a strong internet connection, camera and working audio.
  • Students are to attend class solo. Registered siblings in the same class may share, if necessary. Parents, we love you, but our classes are for the kids. Try and give your kid(s) proper freedom/space.
  • We suggest setting up your device on a desk or tripod, and sitting in a chair that allows for good posture. You should also have the ability to stand up freely and move side-to-side for scenes that require movement.
  • Please try your best to clear out all distractions, and close all other tabs and apps on your device. We expect the same amount of focus during our virtual classes as would be given to in-person sessions.
  • When you come to class, please be ready to learn! This means you are sitting in a learning-conducive environment with everything you need. Although life requires us to be on the go, attending class from a vehicle or busy area can be distracting to others. If you are joining the class from a non-learning conducive environment, we will require that you audit rather than participate in the class; this means your camera and sound will stay off for the class duration so that others can learn without interruption.
  • We are all missing in-person classes but industry professionals are now being cited as saying that online classes are helping to advance actors and hone their craft like never before. Let’s use this tool to our advantage and give it our all!
Late Policy

Our class time is valuable, and we want to make sure our students have conducive learning environments and are ready when the clock strikes. To ensure our students have the best experience possible, LeBlanc School of Acting has a strict 'Late Policy'.

Our Late Policy means that if you are more than 10 minutes late, you will unfortunately not be allowed to participate in class and will not be let in from the Zoom waiting room.

At LeBlanc, we work hard to create exciting class plans coordinated to class time. By being late, our students lose out on key elements and education while disrupting the class flow and learning of others.

Our team is always open to working with unexpected schedule changes or appointments; they just need to be made aware ahead of time. If your child will be late, please email admin@leblancschool.com to let us know in advance.

Week 8

WEEK 8: THE BEST YOU
It’s time to bring your authentic self to the work.
This week, you’ll be performing a scene audition-style. Read on for required prep and your script.

It’s been quite the journey, LeBlancers, but we’ve finally made it here. It's Week 8, and the final week of our Winter term! Every week, you’ve shown up to give your very best. And it shows! It has been wonderful to see you give your all with Nothin’ but the Best. And now it’s time to apply all of those skills with one final challenge: The Best You.

The strongest actor is an actor who has confidence in themself, and isn’t afraid to be authentically them. AUTHENTIC means genuine, real, actual, bonafide…certified YOU, Little LeBlancers!

This week, we’ll be mixing all of our techniques from our best term yet, and adding each of your own unique, special selves to a script. It’s time to remember that The Best You makes your performance TRULY Nothin’ but the Best.

A big round of applause for finishing the term so strongly, Little LeBlancers! We will see you in class!

This week is performance week. Our expectations of all students are outlined below.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR PERFORMANCE WEEK:

As a young actor, being prepared is being professional—so printing out the script 10 minutes before class is not enough. In order to get the most out of class, please follow the following notes. Preparing for performance week includes some essential components:

1) Learning your lines. You should be comfortable (ideally off-script / memorized) with all of the dialogue;
2) Blocking scene action in a non-distracting, simple way for the camera;
3) Understanding what is happening in the scene, who your character is, and what they want most of all; and
4) Dress to suggest the character - just like you would for a real audition!

Performance week should be treated the same as an audition. It is unacceptable to be unprepared for performance week.

Week 7

WEEK 7: THE BEST REACTION
Respond to what just happened with a truthful reaction!

We couldn't be more proud of you, Little LeBlancers. You’ve been working hard for six weeks, and have learned some strong skills along the way. This week, we are bringing out another big skill, as we explore The Best Reaction.

Our challenge this week involves reacting to what just happened in a truthful way. We want people watching us to think, “Wow, that character had no idea that was coming!” To do all of this, we need to remain in the moment, so our reactions feel real. That’s hard to do, but we’re here to help!

The best way to stay in the moment is to keep you on your toes. So this week, Little LeBlancers, get ready for some fun and creative class exercises. Gear up for another fantastic week, Little LeBlancers. We’ll see you for Week 7 of Nothin’ but the Best!

Week 6

WEEK 6: THE BEST ATTACK
Explore strong and safe action!

It’s hard to believe that only six weeks ago we started our Winter term, but here we are, ready for another class of Nothin’ but the Best! But oh! Watch out! Duck! Jump! Ka-Pow! This week, it’s all about The Best Attack.

We use our bodies to show BIG ACTION. That means learning how to perform physical action (jumping up and down with excitement, or even pushing something away in anger). We can’t stand frozen in our scene, Little LeBlancers. Unless of course we’re playing an icicle…but we’re not! So we need to learn how to use our bodies safely. This means showing that we can add action—even action with angry emotions—in a safe way.

For this class, we will be exploring anger with our emotions, and most importantly, with our ACTIONS. It’s important to learn how to portray these characters, and their actions, safely, remembering that it is just pretend.

Please read on for special space requirements for Week 6’s class:

**Please set yourself up in a large space that allows you to do full body movement safely (a non-slip area with nothing you can run into or knock over). Always have a parent watching you. In addition, let others in your home know that you may get LOUD in this class!

Week 5

WEEK 5: THE BEST SURROUNDINGS (INT. / EXT.)
Use your environment to make a moment feel strong!

We hope you’ve had a restful and relaxing break, Little LeBlancers, and are ready to come back to class with big energy and enthusiasm! It’s time for Week 5 of Nothin’ but the Best, and this week, it’s time for The Best Surroundings.

Our character’s ENVIRONMENT means WHERE THEY ARE during the scene. Are they inside or outside? We need to know this, because it will help us play our character. We act and speak differently when we are outside at our favourite park, or at a crowded parade, than when we are inside a warm house during a snowstorm, or stuck inside the quiet school library. So let’s learn how our environment affects our character, so we can make the strongest acting choices possible!

Get ready for a VERY fun class, Little LeBlancers. See you for Week 5!

Week 4

WEEK 4: THE BEST CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
Learn how to deeply know the character you’re performing.

It’s Performance Week!

This term is flying by, Little LeBlancers, and each week, we are more amazed by how you are striving to be the best versions of yourselves. Let’s keep your energy up as we jump into Week 4 with a very exciting week: The Best Character Development.

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT means learning all we can about our character (who they are and what they like/dislike), making sure we understand the story that’s written in our script (what’s happening), and thinking about how our character might be feeling in their situation (their emotions). When we put all of this together, we can start to bring our characters to LIFE!

We’re going to explore character development in class this week, and we can’t wait to begin!

This week is performance week. Our expectations of all students are outlined below.

Week 3

WEEK 3: THE BEST SUPPORT
Supporting each other makes all the difference!

You’ve been bringing Nothin’ but the Best for the first two classes of the Winter term, Little LeBlancers, and we can’t wait to see what you bring to Week 3! This week’s technique is incredibly important: The Best Support.

When we’re acting, we’re part of a community. And we must build up our community! So that’s the focus in today’s class. We’ll be using this week’s class as a chance to explore special exercises designed to strengthen and grow young actors who are thoughtful, encouraging, supportive to other people they might work with in the industry. And we’ll also focus on being good friends to other actors we meet along the way.

We’ll be working through some exercises as a class that dig deep into support and encouragement. It’s going to be an unforgettable and very special week, Little LeBlancers, as we enter Week 3 of the term!

Week 2

WEEK 2: THE BEST FIRST
Can we get something “right” on the first try?

Welcome back to Week 2, LeBlancers! We’re excited to dive into the next technique: The Best The First Time.

When we’re asked to audition for a role, it’s exciting! But it also takes some preparation. We want to practice as much as we can, because when it’s time to actually audition, sometimes you only get a few moments to showcase all that you can do. Talk about pressure!

Sometimes you go into a casting studio and are told that you only have one chance (or “take”) to do your scene. That can make us feel nervous! But don’t worry. This week, we’ll be practicing getting a strong take of a short script on the first go. Because knowing how to do your best on the first try is so important for all actors, even Little LeBlancers!  With this in mind, you'll be given a script in class and prepare it on the spot.

We know it might feel a bit scary, but it doesn’t have to be perfect, Little LeBlancers, you just need to try your best. We’ll work through this mini-script together in class. See you for Week 2, Little LeBlancers!

Week 1

WEEK 1: THE BEST STARE
Use your eyes to show emotion!

Welcome to your first week of Winter term, Little LeBlancers! We can’t wait to get started. It’s going to be the best term yet! Are you ready for our first technique? Get ready, because for Week 1, we’re learning about The Best Stare.

Think about all of the emotions we can see when we look into someone’s eyes. A happy twinkle, an angry glare, sad tears, surprised eyebrows, and so much more! Our eyes are truly alive! Actors must learn to use our eyes to the best of their ability. That means holding eye contact. So it’s time to start training our eyes…with a starting contest!

In this class, we’ll be exploring different characters as we hold our stares and bring emotion to different situations. Come prepared to class with a non-distracting space and a lot of creative enthusiasm for the Zoom class. We can’t wait to see you in our first week of the term!
